Ludwigsburg Palace:
This Palace is huge. You can walk freely throughout the outside. If you'd like to see the inside, you do have to pay. Though, you are not allowed to take pictures inside, like most of Germany's rules on Castles and Palaces. I have not seen the inside yet, so I will update this post when I do. They do have a small area you can walk into that had a bunch of statues, but that's about as close as you can freely get to seeing the inside. This Palace does host a pumpkin patch around October in the Garden. I believe entry is about 8 Euro per person. Buying pumpkins can be expensive though.
